York, NY - September 27, 2007 - Mike
Houston wins the 2007 New York Innovative Theatre Award for "Outstanding
Solo Performance" for his performance in the eavesdrop® production
of THE LEDGE.
THE LEDGE, written by Jack Hanley and directed by Christopher Eaves,
opened at the Sanford Meisner Theater on December 1, 2006 and continued
through December 17th. Martin Denton of nytheatre.com wrote that
THE LEDGE is "a theatrical experience of rare power and beauty."
Andrew Rothkin of High Drama called it "a wintry tempest of
excitement and heart-wrenching climax."
Mike Houston moved to New York City in 2004. He is a recent graduate
of the William Esper studio and has a recurring role in the Showtime
television series "Brotherhood." THE LEDGE was Mike's first
collaboration with eavesdrop®. He has also contributed his vocal
talent to the 2006 incarnation of SELF
AT HAND.
The IT
Awards are given annually to recognize the unique and essential
role Off-Off-Broadway plays in contributing to American and
global culture and to expand audience
|
awareness
and appreciation of the full New York theatre experience. The
third annual IT Awards ceremony was held at the Haft Auditorium
at the Fashion Institute of Technology on September 24, 2007.
Actress and comedian Julie Halston hosted the event.

Ledge" by Lawrence Sargent Hall, Sr., ©1959, Bowdoin
